JumpstART Retrospective | Evolucity screening

SAWvideo is hosting a retrospective for their JumpstART grant and mentorship program. I was lucky enough to be selected for this program in 2010. It was there that I met Firuz Daud, my mentor in the program, and he taught me so so so much throughout the year I spent making Evolucity. I frequently wish he was still mentoring me on all my subsequent projects!!
Anyway, if you are in Ottawa I would strongly suggest going, beacuse the other artists that are also being featured are stellar, and there should be some great films, good food and a fun crowd. Stay cool Ottawa!! xom

JumpStart is SAW Video Media Art Centre’s granting program that provides financial and technical assistance every year to aspiring Ottawa-based filmmakers and artists looking to produce their first films. The program has been in existence for nearly thirty years and has helped to produce over 80 films of in dramatic, documentary and experimental genres. As part of its ongoing 35th Anniversary celebrations, SAW Video will be looking back at the fruits of their JumpStart grants by presenting a retrospective screening of 15 distinct debut films, with works produced as far back as 1987 (the year the grant was introduced) and as recent as 2015, effectively covering a span of 28 years of media art history.

35th anniversary raffle draw will be held that evening.  Buy your tickets!
